Direct Thermal Paper Labels overview
Direct thermal labels have a heat-sensitive coating that darkens where the printhead heats it, so no ribbon is needed. That keeps running costs low and makes them the usual choice for courier and e-commerce shipping labels, logistics labels and retail billing labels.
Direct thermal print can fade with prolonged heat, sunlight and time, so these labels are best for short-to-medium life applications. For long-life labels, choose thermal transfer labels with a matching ribbon.
